Mr. Midwest Leather Contest -- April 14, 2007

The third annual Mr. Midwest Leather Contest will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at JJ's Club House located at 3858 Market at Vandeventer, St. Louis, Missouri  63110. Friday evening, April 13th, 2007 will kick off the weekend with a Meat 'N Greet Fundraiser Party which will take place at the Club starting at 11:00 pm where the contestants will be introduced, given their dog tags, and attendees will have a chance to mingle and talk with them. Numbers will be drawn for their order of appearance at the Contest on Saturday April 14th. Contestants will be present for this event and this will give you your first chance to meet them all. This contest is open to contestants throughout the Midwest Region including the 13 states of Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, and Kentucky. Your presence helps support and recognizes the strong and growing leather presence here in the Midwest.

Mr. Midwest Leather 2006, Dr. Bruce Karmizan, from St. Louis, Missouri will host the evening and introduce the 2007 Mr. Midwest Leather Contestants. Throughout the evening, there will be raffles raising funds for the Leather Archives Museum in Chicago and the AIDS Pediatric Ward of Chicago.  There is no cover charge to attend this Meat 'N Greet evening.

The Judges & Staff Dinner Party is at 6:30 pm at the Philip Hitchcock Designs Gallery located at 2300 Cherokee Street, St. Louis, MO in the historic antique district. The Dinner will go from 6:30 pm to about 8:30 pm. At that time you will have time to go back to the Holiday Inn Express to relax and change. The Meet N Greet will start at 11:00 pm and go to around 1:00 am at JJs Club House (www.JJsClubHouse.com) which is located at 3858 Market at Vandeventer, St. Louis, MO 63110 Phone: (314) 535-4100. Judges and Staff who are present will be introduced to the public along with the Contestants. The Contestants will draw their numbers for the competition while on stage for Saturday evening. A Contestant and Staff Brunch will be held at Wes K.'s home on Saturday morning from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Mr. Midwest Leather Contest will take place on Saturday evening April 14th, 2007 at JJ's Club House starting at 11:00 pm. The Master of Ceremonies will be Jon Krongaard and UltraDom (Karen Ultra Crecelius). Jon is from Chicago, Illinois and is Vice-President of the Leather Archives Museum in Chicago as well as the Marketing Sponsorship Coordinator for IML (International Mr. Leather). UltraDom is the vivacious and fun First Runner-Up Ms. World Leather 2004 from St. Louis, Missouri.

The Contest is being produced by Kurt Pierce, founder of the Mr. Midwest Leather Contest which started in 2005. Kurt was also Mr. Pistons Leather 2003 (Long Beach / Orange County, California). The doors will open to JJ's Club House at 9:00 pm on Saturday night and there will be a $10 cover charge for the Contest which will be held in the Entertainment area of the club.

The head judge for the contest is Chuck Windemuth, founder of the Kennel Club and Roadshow Director for the Leather Archives Museum in Chicago. Mr. Marcus will be a special guest judge from San Francisco, California and he is the Leather Editor of the Bay Area Reporter, as well as Judge Emeritus, IML, Judge, International Leather Sir/Boy and judge of numerous other prestigious leather contests. Other judges will be Dr. Bruce Karmizan, Mr. Midwest 2006, Rich Wilson Mr. Missouri Leather 2006 , Robert Miller CLAW Founder and Lifetime Board Member, Larry Golubski IML 2006 First Runner-Up, and George Wong from California.

The Tallymasters for the Mr. Midwest Leather Contest will be Don Leach, Head Tallymaster Co-Producer of the Illinois Leather Sir/Boy Contest and Co-Contest/Contestant Director for the Great Lakes Leather Alliance and Joee Arteaga, Assistant Tallymaster Mr. Chicago Leather 2004.

The Den Daddies for the evening will be Mark Bozif 2005 Midwest Pantheon Award and Mr. Missouri Leather 2003 and Ron Walters.

The winner of this Contest will receive $500 cash, 4 nights accommodations  for the IML Weekend Event in Chicago, Leather Title Vest and Sash, one weekend airfare to a destination of his choice anywhere in the continental US for a leather event, and a gift basket valued at $250 from the contest sponsors. The First Runner-Up will receive $100 cash and prizes, and the Second Runner-Up will receive $50 cash and prizes.

Contest Scoring for Mr. Midwest Leather 2007
Total Maximum Points: 300

0-100 Points -- Interview with the Judges Saturday Afternoon at 3:00 pm.

0-  60 Points -- Stage Presence during the Bar Cruise Wear portion of the night. Bar Cruise Wear is considered what you would feel comfortable wearing when you go out to a leather bar clubbing. During this portion you will be asked a question by Jon Krongaard or UltraDom, the EmCees. This section of the contest will be judged primarily on stage presence and bar cruise ware.  Even though there will be a funny question asked by the EmCee the answer will not be a key part of judging on this portion, but how you handle the answer in relation to you Stage Presence is important.

0-100 Points -- General Appearance and Stage Presence in Formal Leather Wear Image on stage during the first portion on the night of the Contest. 50 points of this will be judged on your Formal Leather Look and 50 points will be judged on how you answer of the following question: "If you are named Mr. Midwest Leather 2007, what do you plan on doing during your title year?" Formal Leather may include a number of styles including uniform, leather shirt and pants, and other combinations.

0-  40 Points -- Physique and Body during the Minimal Wear (Cod Piece/Jock Strap/Harness/etc.) portion on stage during the Contest where both muscle tone and personal body image will be scored. What this stage is all about is showing off your body to the max. There is also a light Q & A based on information in your application, but your response is not judged on a point scale.
